Word Finder

Enter your letters to see every word you can make from them. Filter by length, or by the letter a word starts or ends with, and results are grouped by word length.

How the word finder works

Type in the letters you have available — for example your Scrabble or Words With Friends tiles — and hit Find Words. The tool looks through the dictionary for every word that can be built using only those letters, using each letter at most as many times as it appears in your input. Use the length, starts-with, and ends-with filters to narrow a large result list down to exactly what you need.

Looking for words that use every one of your letters, rearranged? Try the Anagram Solver.

This is useful for more than just finished tiles in hand. If you're stuck mid-game and want to see what's playable before committing to a move, type in your full rack and use the length filter to check short two- and three-letter plays alongside longer, higher-scoring words. The starts-with and ends-with filters are handy when you already know part of a word you're trying to build off an existing tile on the board.

Switch between the "Common" and "Extended" word lists depending on how strict your game is — Extended includes more obscure and technical words, while Common sticks to words most players will recognize. Clicking any result shows its definition instantly.

Frequently asked questions

How is the word finder different from an anagram solver?
The word finder shows every word buildable from a subset of your letters, while an anagram solver only shows words that use all of your letters at once. Use the word finder when you don't need to use every tile.
What does the "contains" filter do?
It narrows results to words that include a given letter or sequence of letters anywhere in the word, not just at the start or end — useful when you know part of a word but not where it falls.
What word list does this use?
Results come from the free, public-domain ENABLE word list ("Common"), or ENABLE combined with SCOWL for a larger set ("Extended"). Click any result to see its definition.
